Audits and inspections give you a snapshot as to how your safe your business is and what issues are to be dealt with.
It also provides evidence of your caring approach to health and safety and looks good if any external organisation wants to see how you are doing – say if you are going for accreditation like CHAS.
Audits – See how your procedures and method statements match up to what is actually going on. Do they represent reality? Are there improvements to be made? What do the people doing the work think?
Inspections – Looking for hazardous activities on site, conflicts between different work activities? Is good housekeeping being maintained, no materials or trip hazards on walkways etc. Identifying best practice.
Each audit or inspection will be presented as a formal report with recommendations and suggested timescales for completion.
